Spring Lookbook | One Wear Freedom

Spring Lookbook

Though it is hard to tell at the moment (thank you ever-changing London weather), spring is here! With it comes off the dark, heavy, winter layers and all your light and bright garments make their return from Narnia. As it is a new season, I thought it was about time for a new Lookbook, so I have put together 7 different One Wear Freedom pieces that have major spring vibes.

February is LGBTQ+ History Month, so in honour of that I thought it would be a great time to discuss how queer aesthetics have influenced mainstream fashion.

Trans Fashion Icons That We Love | One Wear Freedom

Trans Fashion Icons That We Love

Tomorrow is the International Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR). Every year on the 20th of November people across the globe come together to remember those who have been murdered as a result of transphobia. It is not just a day about remembering, however, it is also a day to platform and draw attention to the enduring and unending violence faced by transgender people everywhere. Tragically, this year alone at least 375 transgender or gender non-conforming people have been the victims of fatal violence.

Spotlight on AKINSANYA | One Wear Freedom

Spotlight on AKINSANYA

At One Wear Freedom, we are dedicated to championing the work of traditional artisans who are either reviving or preserving traditional ways of working, that have been passed down from generation to generation. Such ways often guarantee that items are unique and individually handmade which is a far more sustainable way of creating as opposed to the current process of Fast Fashion which produces grossly excessive amounts of clothes for buyers that might not even exist. This results in huge amounts of waste that either contribute to landfill or incineration.

Spotlight on Zarif | One Wear Freedom

Spotlight on Zarif

Much of the One Wear Freedom collection comes from the generous donations of family and friends, including vintage, pre-loved, special occasion garments that have served their purpose for the original owner but have a lot more life in them. When we do add something new to our collections, we work closely with the artisans to ensure the pieces have been ethically sourced, with sustainability in mind throughout the production process.

Power Dressing In 2020 | One Wear Freedom

Power Dressing In 2020

When we think of the term power dressing, our first thoughts are probably of women wearing giant shoulder pads, and masculine style suit jackets. The term Power Dressing was coined in the late 1970s/1980's.  It was first used in The Post Standard, a New York City newspaper, in 1979.  It was said to be a style mainly adopted by women and one which was created to give a female’s an air of ability, confidence and capability.

Think Pink For Breast Cancer Awareness Month | One Wear Freedom

Think Pink For Breast Cancer Awareness Month

As part of Breast Cancer Awareness month, we’re celebrating all things pink. First of all, it is simply a GREAT colour and secondly, it is associated with so many wonderful things! A pink triangle is one of the symbols of the gay rights movement and the colour’s links with women and femininity has steadily continued since the 1940s – the reason why it is used by all major breast cancer charities!
